Background & Staff
Opened in 2004, Studio A Dance Co. has become one of the top studios in the Quad Cities. With a state of the art, 5400 square foot facility, a top notch faculty, and limited class sizes, Studio A provides a safe, inspiring environment for kids to learn and create.
Angela Mappin, Owner and Artistic Director, hopes to instill a strong passion for dance in every student that comes to Studio A. For over 20 years, Angela has been dancing and teaching all over the country. Growing up in Phoenix, Arizona where the dance possibilities were limitless, Angela was dancing professionally by the age of 13. When her parents moved her to Bettendorf as a freshman in high school, Angela knew she wanted to bring something new and exciting to the Quad Cities. Since opening, she and her staff have educated thousands of students, built an award winning competitive company, and created a wonderful place for kids to come and find the joy that dance has to offer.
Studio A Dance Co. is home to an incredible faculty which includes credits such as the University of Illinois Champaign Urbana B.A. of Dance Program, University of Arizona B.A of Dance Program, Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive, Northwestern University Summer Intensive, Captain of the University of Iowa Dance Team, Member of the nationally ranked Iowa State Dance Team, Walt Disney World, UDA Instructor, and Celebrity and Princess Cruise Lines. The Studio A faculty has over 200 combined years of performing and teaching experience, ensuring a consistent, professional, and positive experience.
Studio A prides itself on its family friendly atmosphere. We strive to instill values and discipline in a fun and safe environment where students can express themselves through dance. We encourage dancers to find what gifts they have as an individual, as well as what they can achieve as a team.
Dancers at the studio are able to excel in the areas of Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary through weekly classes. All classes have age appropriate material and music, and are geared towards correct technical placement and expression. We hope you will join us!
