Alissa began her dance career at the age of 5 in Kennesaw, GA. At the same time, she was developing her love for rhythmic gymnastics. By the age of 7, she decided to mainly focus on rhythmic gymnastics and joined the prestigious Atlanta International Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, in which she trained under former Russian Gymnastics coach, Marina Davidovich. During this time she continued her dance training, taking ballet classes at the Atlanta Ballet and performing in Atlanta Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker for 3 years. Countless hours of training and performing at the Elite Level, earned her a spot on the 1995 Junior Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics Team for the Southern Region.

After numerous all-around titles and awards at regional, state, and national competitions, Alissa moved with her family in 1997 to Naperville, IL. With only a limited number of Elite Rhythmic Gyms in the Chicago area, she changed her focus back to dance. She was a member of the Neuqua Valley High School Dance/Pom Team, and was president of the Neuqua Valley Orchesis Dance Troupe. She helped lead her team to numerous titles, as well as choreographing routines for both teams. By the end of her junior year of high school, Alissa and her family moved to Bettendorf where she became a member of the award-winning Bettendorf Goldusters Dance/Pom Team. Her high school dance career led her to being selected as a UDA All- American 3 times and a Top Ten placing in the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Solo Championships.

During her collegiate career, she was a member of the highly-ranked University of Iowa Dance Team from 2002-2005. She performed at numerous football and basketball games, including: Orange, Outback, Capital One Bowls, and the NCAA Tournament. She was co-captain her senior year, leading her team to the 2005 UDA College Nationals.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2005, and moved back to the Quad Cities area. Alissa realized she had such a passion for teaching dance and joined the Studio A Dance Company’s Faculty as a jazz/lyrical instructor. She also coached the Bettendorf Goldusters Dance/Pom Team from 2007-2011. Alissa loves teaching students of all ages and feels privileged for being a part of the Studio A family.
